The present painting was accompanied by a certificate issued by Dr Walter Bernt (1973, “ein einwandfreies charakteristisches und gut erhaltenes Werk” [an impeccable, characteristic and well-preserved work]). A second version of this composition with slightly different dimensions (63.5 x 97.5 cm) was auctioned at Christie’s, London, on 8 July 2014, as lot 155.
