Otto Piltz: Otto Piltz was a pupil of Count Stanislaus of Kalkreuth in Weimar, where he was awarded the title of professor in 1882. In 1889 he moved to Munich, becoming a member of the Munich Secession and the association of artists in 1893. His significant talent lay in the depiction of rural genre scenes and lively representations of children. Many of his scenes were set in the regions of Thüringen, Hessen, Bavaria and Tyrol. He showed his works at the annual exhibitions in Berlin and Munich, and at the 1878 Paris World Fair. (Lexikon der Münchner Maler im 19. Jahrhundert, München 1982, Vol.3, p. 287.)
