This cigarette case was discovered among the treasure of the Galleon Nuestra Senora de las Maravillas. On 5th January 1656, the Galleon sank off the Bahamas loaded with Columbian gold, emeralds, and silver. The treasures were salvaged during the nineteen-eighties and sold at auction at Christie's in 1991. The above cigarette case is one of the finest items from the treasure of the Maravillas Galleon. This cigarette case was discovered among the treasure of the Galleon Nuestra Senora de las Maravillas. On 5th January 1656, the Galleon sank off the Bahamas loaded with Columbian gold, emeralds, and silver.
