The painting belonged to Anton Bruckner and was a gift of his friend Moritz von Mayfeld. Mayfeld was a composer and district governor of Linz and Vöcklabruck. He and his wife Barbara von Jenny loved to give evenings of music which Anton Bruckner liked to attend.
