Northeast China, c. 235 x 150 cm, 19th century, on cotton foundation with silk and yellow-gold border, this piece is an extremely rare carpet with unusual pattern, the mosaic-like octagon lattice is decorated with a red disc medallion with lotus flowers, which is also used in the spandrels, good overall condition with slightly low silk pile in places.
