Acquired by Pietro Dovizielli (1809-1885) Rome, the great-great-grandfather of the current owner;
then by inheritance to the current owner;
Private Collection, Italy.
The present work depicts the procession of the Confraternita della Misericordia, whose hooded members follow the Holy Cross with the crucified Christ on Good Friday, at the moment when it reaches the portico of the Pantheon in Rome.
