French bureau Mazarin,
A modified style from the 19th century. An ebonised hardwood desk with eight scrolled legs with brass casters, 2 X stretchers, richly decorated with floral and geometric marquetry in tortoiseshell and brass, with 1 door, 7 drawers and bronze mounts. Ca. 76 x 115 x 73 cm. With small veneer losses, in restored condition. (DOC)

This important Bureau Mazarin is a high quality 19th century reproduction modelled after the Boulle furniture of the 2nd half of the 17th century. In this case, the piece is substantially modelled on the writing desks from the legendary collections of the Baron de Redé and the Baron Guy de Rothschild (Palais Lambert in Paris and Chàteau de Ferrières) which were offered at auction.
