In 1964 the Vespa 180 SS (Super Sport) was introduced and replaced the 160 GS as the new top-of-the-line model. Its most characteristic and at the same time apparent new feature was the trapeze shaped headlight. The new model as a whole was a thorough development of its predecessor, though. The frame was modified and the larger engine produced a straight 10 HP, which made it good for 106,5 km/h.

Only 35,700 examples of the 180 Super Sport were built in five years. It was never sold in the usually important German market, which might have had something to do with the abbreviation of the model name. Like all the other top-of-the-line models of their days the 180 SS is highly sought after among enthusiasts today.

Already its history makes this 180 Super Sport something very special. It is a true Austrian Vespa, delivered new to Vienna‘s fourth district. On top the unbelievably original condition is the icing on the cake. The original paint has only been carefully retouched with a brush here and there, which gives this 180 Super Sport an incredible amount of character.
