porcelain, of cylindrical form, the body with gold interior edge, the exterior with gold and dark red edging, gold painted palmette twigs on chamois coloured ground, acanthus leaves painted ‘en grisaille’ on bright gold ground, framed by purple arched edges and bright gold chain border on matte gold bands, large reserve with coloured painting “Paris presents the golden apple to Aphrodite”, with Hera and Athena in the background, and Cupid hidden under the purple coat, gold angular handle, height 6 cm, dia 13.5 cm, Vienna, Imperial Manufactory, underglaze blue Austrian shield, dated 1803, Sorgenthal era, turner no. 15 Mathias Greiner 1770-1804, cup and saucer with gold painter no. 96 Anton Kothgasser 1784-1816, the manufactory’s most important gilt design painter (Ru)
