This study was carried out in connection with the studies for the Engelskappelle in Seckau.

A study trip to Spain from the end of September 1951 until June 1952 served as a clean break.

... Boeckl did not use watercolour painting and drawing (especially those in the Catalan National Museum, where most of the important mural paintings had been transferred) only for study, but they were also a diary substitute for him. That is why most of the sheets are signed and dated and very often also inscribed.
