It has always seemed to me that there was an inextricable contradiction between the incessant creative process, which devours all available time and leaves little room for hesitation, and the analytical, epistemological reflection that could follow this creation. From where do we get the time if not coerced? Even though one often searches for meaning and resolution in the picture puzzles viewed, pressed by the questions of friends or opponents, the creation of these pictures requires the devotion of all available time, for viewing and making visible is more important than interpretation. Interpretation comes eventually, it follows at some point and is always new, different, and if I think of the many contradictory interpretations of the pictures by my beloved Hieronymus Bosch, I become anxious, and yet also oddly at ease at the thought of how my work will be interpreted. For it is not that I ever fully know what I am creating, and never am I able to commit myself to a single interpretation. ...
