Iran, c. 212 x 130 cm, about 1900. The present prayer rug was knotted with English merino wool on a fine cotton warp. It depicts a Garden of Paradise with colourful flower and bird motifs. The pale green bird border contributes to the rug’s extremely elegant, classic look. Good pile condition. Some colours corroded. Newly overcast edges. (VP)
