The present drawing is a preliminary study for the figure of Saint Mary Magdalene in the painting “Christ in the house of Martha and Mary Magdalene” (c. 1741) in the Chiesa di S. Maria in Campo Marzio in Rome. A bozzetto for the painting is in an Italian private collection (Fototeca Zeri, Inv. 120191). Another study for the figure of Christ is kept in the Uffizi (Inv. 14095).
