In 1786, Lampi painted a life-size portrait of Prince Kaunitz (Akademie der Bildenden Künste, Vienna). The bozzetto for this portrait is in the Pinacoteca di Brera, Milan. We are grateful to Roberto Pancheri for confirming the attribution of the present painting after examination of the present painting in the original.
