A large “Kalpa” vase/bowl, Satyendra Pakhale,
2002, for Cor Unum, glazed earthenware, height 16 cm, diameter 61 cm. (DRAX)
An early example from a limited series that is no longer produced. A different example is in the collection of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
“Kalpa” means poetic imagination. It can be used as a vase and after turning upside down or it could be used as a fruit bowl. This object also makes a passing reference to the blue and white Delftware tulip vase, almost like a teaser, but with a very fresh perspective.
