An Ulm Stool, designed by Max Bill in cooperation with Hans Gugelot and Paul Hidinger

in 1953, manufactured at the Hochschule für Gestaltung (HFG) Ulm, pared-down structure made of glazed spruce, the corner joint with half concealed dovetailing, round beechwood rod, the sides with beechwood upturning in tongue and groove construction. Height c. 45.5 cm, width c. 40 cm, depth c. 30 cm. (MHA)
This multifunctional piece of furniture can be used as a seat, desk, side table, tray and carrying aid. Today, the design of the stool is generally attributed to Max Bill, who made a first sketch on a napkin. Afterwards, he developed the final design and implemented it with the assistance of Hans Gugelot and master carpenter Paul Hildinger.
