Michael Powolny, a “Papageno” putto (figurine: Papageno), Wienerberger number: 4100, Wienerberger Ziegelfabriks- und Baugesellschaft, Vienna, c. 1916/1920
“Papageno” putto standing on a round base plate, with glockenspiel (lyre and hammer) in his hands, the birdcage hung around the shoulder, and plumed ornament on his head. At his feet a shrub with birds (parrots, eagle owl); red-bodied ceramic, glazed in shades of blue and white; on the back with embossed factory mark an indecipherable stamp; professionally restored, very slightly chipped; height 82 cm.
