We are grateful to Gerbert Frodl and Marianne Frodl-Schneemann for confirming the attribution of the present painting to the Viennese flower painter Johann Baptist Drechsler. Drechsler executed splendid and richly arranged flower still lifes like the present painting mostly in his later years around 1800.
