Southwest Caucasus, c. 229 x 142 cm, 19th century. A rustic carpet from the small village of Karachoph, which lies north of Lake Sevan. The classic central octagon type with green ground and four white squares set with stars is surrounded by a beautiful variation of the oak leaf border in light madder. With repairs to the central field, original condition with partly trimmed pile. (VP)
