A Magnificent Vase with a Lute Player and a Lady, Meissen,
porcelain, polychromed and gilt, oval body with ten-segment rim, narrow and wide gilt edges, reserves on the front and back with polychrome painted landscape with clouds and waterfall, flanked by trees and flowers, blossom and leafy tendrils up to the trellis as well as blossom hangings, in the centre is a lute player, similar scenery on the reverse, in the centre a lady with flowers wearing a décolleté and apron, underneath basket with sprigs of leaves, sun hat and walking stick framed by leaf rocailles, on the foot birds fluttering and perched among branches, on the wide sides leafy branches with large and small sculptural polychrome blossoms, height 49 cm, a few blossoms and leaves chipped, very rare vase form
underglaze blue crossed swords mark, second half of the 19th century, model no. 383, former no. 103 (Ru)
