Under the impression of the Mediterranean landscape, which Gerhild Diesner regularly toured from the 1950s, and the special southern light, her colors became brighter, “the landscape itself, as well as the trees, bushes and flowers were increasingly stylized and reduced to the essential and generally applicable. It almost seems as if the artist, in her need for harmony and her longing for “simplicity”, arranged the landscape itself as a poetic “still life”.
