Rolex Oyster Perpetual GMT - Master
wristwatch with second time zone, reference 1675, c. 1966
Case: gold 750, numbered 1697213, turning bezel, screw crown, diameter c. 39 mm
Movement: self-winding, lever movement, numbered D23326, calibre 1560, 26 stones
Dial: gold-coloured, “nipple dial”, date, central second, 24-hour hand
Accessories: copy of certificate of value by Wempe from 1986 and copy of service receipt by Kriescher from 2021, black replacement dial, two-tone bezel inlay, several movement and case parts are included.
The present model is still without the crown protector that would later become a normal feature. The term “nipple dial” is used by collectors for the dials with the characteristic round indexes. This shape can be found especially in the vintage models of GMT - Master from the 1950s and 1960s. The production of these dials stopped in the early 1980s. The dial and bezel were exchanged at the customer’s request. The watch has age-related signs of wear and damage. The dial has been subsequently gilt.
