Central Anatolia, c. 163 x 113 cm, 19th century. Ladik carpets are among the most traditional knotworks of Asia Minor and have been produced since the 15th century. The present example shows a stepped, hooked short prayer niche. The indigo corners are decorated with two rosettes which also alternate in the wide border with tulip-trimmed wavy vines. With several damaged and corroded areas, partly trimmed silk pile, completely preserved. (VP)
