Caucasus, c. 141 x 123 cm, first half of the 20th century. An archaic motif reminiscent of a stylised animal shape shines immaculately on a natural white ground like a “golden fleece”. This motif has its origin in common with the well-known Lori Pambak motif. Armenian carpet merchants used to call this ornament “animal fur motif”. With trimmed upper end, corroded brown and original edges, partly preserved deep pile. (VP)
