In its complex composition one of Jungnickel’s most fascinating coloured woodcuts. “This theme was further heightened in the depiction of a ‘Group of Seven Parrots’, also titled ‘Papageienwald’ [Parrot Forest]. Six animals together form a wild, intricate community that huddles around one large parrot. The latter clings to a branch with one claw and its powerful beak, flapping its wings. Stylistically (...) still attributable to the same pattern, but in its slightly dramatic conception rather to the early Expressionism" (Spielvogel-Bodo p. 130).
