A rare couple of Gurunsi nail fetish figures,
Burkina Faso. Wood, iron, 51 cm high. These figures were placed in a shrine, to protect the owners from evil spirits. Like the rare Bobo "nail fetish", Bobo power figure, is associated with village protection practices performed by blacksmiths against witchcraft. (VJ)
