The study of a rock is comparable with the landscape in the painting „A bear and its cub next to a roebuck in a rocky region“ (oil on wood, 58 x 46 cm), Feuchtmüller Cat. 136, S. 283. A nature study (oil on canvas, 43,5 x 31 cm) for the painting is preserved in the Niederösterreichisches Landesmuseum (Inv. Nr. 1638).
