In the 1930s, in addition to his work at the Vienna State Opera, Toni Birkmeyer led his own ballet ensemble, which performed internationally in variety theatres. In September 1935, the ‘Ballet Toni Birkmeyer’ gave a guest performance at the Krystallpalast in Leipzig. The repertoire included the dance ‘Tango Argentino’, which is shown in the photo.
