George Weil was born in Vienna in 1938 and attended Saint Martins School of Art in London at the age of 16. He saw himself primarily as a sculptor, which is reflected in the sculptural design of his jewellery. His creations are often abstract and geometrically arranged, with the overall effect of the piece of jewellery taking centre stage. His jewellery was presented worldwide through the Jean Renet Gallery in London, which enabled him to count numerous stars such as Frank Sinatra and Elisabeth Taylor among his clientele. The asymmetrical shape of many of his jewellery pieces is reminiscent of the works of Andrew Grima.
