Late 19th century. No other Persian weaving workshop exerted such a fascination on the carpet market as that of the master weaver Mohtashem. This wonderful specimen of a paradisiacal tree carpet was manufactured on cotton warp with c. 640,000 knots/sqm. Several traces of usage, completely preserved. The original violet side edges edges are heavily corroded but clearly visible.
