The engraving reads: "Hierinn ruhet der Edl und gestreng Herr Herr Wilhelm Albrecht Pernstorffer des auch edlen und gestrengen Herrn Herrn Christoph Wilhelm Perstorffers von Poppen auf Carnnabrun, einer löb. Landschaft in Österreich under der Enns, Herrn verordnetten und seiner Frawen Gemahl, der wol geborenen Frawen, Frawen Esther Pernstorfferin ein geborene des Enlncklin Freyherrin seeligen beeder eheleiblicher Sohn ist in Christo seeliglich verschiden zu Wien den 5. Febr. im 1617. seines Alters 22. Jahr. Gott verleihe ihm sambt allen Christglaubigen ein frohliche Auferstehung zum ewigen Leben. Amen." (Here lies the noble and honourable gentleman Wilhelm Albrecht Pernstorffer, the legitimate son of the likewise noble and honourable Christoph Wilhelm Pernstorffer of Poppen at Carnnabrun, a member of the esteemed estates in Lower Austria, and of his wife, the well-born lady Esther Pernstorffer, née Freifrau von Enlncklin, of blessed memory. He passed away in Christ in Vienna on the 5th of February, 1617, at the age of 22. May God grant him, together with all who believe in Christ, a joyful resurrection to eternal life. Amen). The Pernstorffer von Poppen family held a significant position within the Horner Bund, an alliance established in 1608 by the Protestant estates of Lower Austria to safeguard their rights and interests in opposition to the ruling Emperor Matthias.
