The renowned Berlin-based manufactory Werner & Mieth was founded in 1792 and, for several decades, ranked among the most important producers of chandeliers, centrepieces, and candelabra. The founders of the firm achieved great renown through bespoke commissions for distinguished patrons; among others, chandeliers were supplied to Sanssouci Palace and to the winter apartments of King Frederick William II in Charlottenburg Palace.
