"Anima Archaica" ("Eine Spurensuche")-Tapisserie,

"Anima Archaica" ("Eine Spurensuche")-Tapisserie, - Möbel, Design und Teppiche

Entwurf und Ausführung Nadeshda Dimitrova *, Österreich 2006, reine Schurwolle in Haute Lise-Gobelintechnik, Baumwoll-Kette, 180 x 230 cm. (DRAX) Unikat. Versteigert zugunsten des Jane Goodall Institute (JGI)- Austria. Provenienz: Geschenk von Nadeshda Dimitrova anläßlich Jane Goodalls 80. Geburtstag, übergeben bei ihrem WienBesuch im Oktober 2014. My theme "Anima Archaica - A Search for Footprints" is inspired by cave paintings, the means of expression of our ancestors, and my choice of tapestry as a centuries-old form of art of documenting everyday events is anything but accidental. We all bear the traits of our ancestors within us, just as the animals are adorned with patterns specific to their species. These traits are the footprints of time that we will, in turn, impart to our descendants. The footprints of time still preserve that which has 'departed' or which is no longer here. I approached this theme in my design studies in which I depicted animals and their markings as well as parts of their pelt patterns (without portraying the entire animal), or in which the already finished animals were repainted with a glaze so that they still shine through from the background although hardly visible. It has been said over and over again that the tapestry, created step by step in a long working process, is an artist's diary in which she weaves her thoughts and feelings. These are her footprints that she transmutes into a canvas, a kind of a crystallized matrix of everyday life, from a living material - wool. This theme was rendered in a large format in wool with the intention of making these artworks more discernible in their meaning and their effect. (N. Dimitrova)
