Ivan Pokorný first studied at the glassmaking secondary and, later, college in Nový Bor. He then graduated from the glass studio at the University of J. E. Purkyně in Ústí nad Labem. Since 2014, he has been an assistant in the glass studio at the VŠUP in Prague.
