L’Art de Vivre
Collection Dr. Alain Gruber
Connoisseur, expert for silver and textiles, curator, author of books, ingenious interior decorator, friend and advisor of numerous celebrities – the renowned Swiss art historian Dr Alain Gruber was all of these things in one person. His special focus was on the eighteenth century and the periods of Louis XV and Louis XVI. The restoration of the Rothschild country estate Waddesdon Manor in Buckinghamshire was one of Gruber’s most prominent projects. He tastefully decorated his own home in Fribourg – the harmonious presentation of a remarkable collection built over many years. Dorotheum now devotes a special auction to the estate of Alain Gruber.
