The Beauty of Space - Iconic Photographs of Early NASA Missions

Have an outstanding insight into man’s greatest adventure: the journey to the universe and the first steps on the Moon. Dorotheum presents some 200 rare photographic treasures of early NASA spaceflight from the dawn of manned spaceflight in the early 1960s to the mid-1970s. The collection includes the first space selfie captured by Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin in 1966, the only photograph of the first man on the Moon Neil Armstrong, and the first human-taken photo of Planet Earth.

Victor Martin-Malburet was enthralled by the extraordinary beauty of space images and spent over 25 years collecting them. These historic photographs originally served scientific purposes and were long kept under lock and key. Parts of his collection have been on display in major museums, including the Grand Palais in Paris, the Kunsthaus Zürich, the Museum der Moderne in Salzburg and the Louisiana Museum of Art. A small part of his photo selection, a veritable feast of superlatives, is now available at attractive prices to anyone who is inspired by images of outer space.
