We are grateful to Fred Meijer of the RKD, The Hague, for the suggested attribution to Egidius Nuemans (written communication, July 2013).

The present work can be compared to two signed works by Egidius Nuemans which have recently been on the market; at Koller, Zurich, 30 March 2012, lot 3087, and; Christie’s, Amsterdam, 1 November 2011, lot 106.
