Collection Walter Hadorn, Bern, Switzerland; passed on by inheritance within the family

After the death of Walter Hadorn in 1986, large parts of the collection of the Swiss medical doctor and art patron went to the Kunstmuseum Bern as a donation, including Amadeo Modigliani’s Standing Female Nude (“Elvira”) from 1918. As early as 1977, the Kunstmuseum Bern had presented the Hadorn Collection in an exhibition that was accompanied by a catalogue (Kunstmuseum Bern, Sammlung Hadorn, Bern 1977).
