Dorotheum as a cooperation partner
As a traditional company with a cultural foundation, the Dorotheum is committed to promoting general interest in art and culture as well as positioning Vienna as a major capital of art and culture:
Cooperation with museums
In this context, the Dorotheum cooperates with numerous museums, including the Kunsthistorisches Museum, the Belvedere, the Austrian National Library, the MUMOK, the Leopold Museum and the Albertina, and also supports research institutions as a sponsor, such as the Belvedere’s Institute for the Creation of Catalogues Raisonnés.
The following museums cooperate with the Dorotheum: Kunsthistorisches Museum, MUMOK, Belvedere, Jüdisches Museum, Österreichische Nationalbibliothek, Leopold Museum, Musik Theater Schönbrunn, Museum Gugging, Stift Klosterneuburg, Theater an der Wien, Haus der Musik, Weltmuseum Wien, Universalmuseum Joanneum, MAK - Museum für Angewandte Kunst, Josephinum - Sammlungen der medizinischen Universität Wien
A wide range of projects have therefore been initiated and realized, such as the “Alte Meister im Gespräch” lecture series with the KHM, the Belvedere’s "Masterpieces in Focus" exhibitions, the staircase design from the Albertina Museum or free admission days.
In addition to our involvement in the Vienna Art Week, which the Dorotheum initiated and which receives about 35,000 visitors and international guests each year at around 180 art events, the Dorotheum is also a sponsor or partner of numerous events, lectures, exhibitions, and more.
The Dorotheum supports charitable organizations on a regular basis by helping and organizing charity auctions, for example. This has already led to successful partnerships with the Life Ball team, SOS Mitmensch, Caritas and other aid organizations.
Regularly updated information and news on Dorotheum’s current cooperation projects are announced on the Dorotheum blog or can be found here.
