10 July 1935, Vimercate (Italy) - 18 September 2013, Desio (Italy)

Agostino Bonalumi was an Italian artist known for abstract work that played a role in the Post-War art that began to appear using unusual and experimental ideas. His work most notably contributed to the development of international recognition of emerging avant-garde.

Agostino Bonalumi transformed into a self-taught painter after abandoning his studies in technical and mechanical design. In 1956, he held his first exhibition at the Galleria Totti in Milan. By the following year, Agostino Bonalumi had made many connections with other well-known Italian artists.

Together with Enrico Castellani, Agostino Bonalumi frequented Lucio Fontana’s studio and began working on an investigation of space and the piece known as "extroflection" for which he referred to as Picture-Objects

He began his career by creating art that captured the elements of depth through his paintings. Eventually, he put to use his mechanical design aptitude and created three-dimensional sculptures that created a sense of wonder and curiosity.

His greatest works include: Blu abitabile (1967)Grande ambiente bianco e nero (1968), and Ambiente pittura dal giallo al bianco e dal bianco al giallo (1979). Bonalumi was involved in art organizations in Venice and collaborated with other artists throughout his career.
