(born in Dornbirn in 1952)
‘Bodycheck/Physical Sculpture No.5’, 1992, from the same-titled installation at the documenta IX in Kassel, one of 70 bags, black leather (originally filled with corn), height 120 cm, diameter 40 cm, additionally the instruction (print) to the installation (design Flatz/drawing Herwig Strobl/computer Christian Aldert), this handsigned, dated Flatz 1992, ca. 82 x 117 cm, the instruction framed, (2)

About the installation: The cylindric corpi (weight ca. 60 kg) similar to ‘punching bags’ used by boxers, were hung at the third floor of the Fridericianum in Kassel in a distance of 40 cm to each other, which is about 5 cm minor the average bead seat width of a person. The essential idea was, that each visitor who wanted to reach the behind located room had to touch and push away the sculptures. He experienced the movement as a conscious act. As Flatz’ concept ‘the direct physical and spiritual confrontation with the sculpture itself’.
