On this small-scale work on paper by Tom Wesselmann, a naked woman with loose dark hair, sun-tanned and with pale skin on her breasts and hips, presents herself lying at a slight diagonal.
The pink colour of the surface on which she lies corresponds with the colour of her nipples and her extended tongue.
Her eyes are not depicted, as is absolutely typical of his „Great American Nudes“ of the 1960s.
Wesselmann finds aesthetic stimuli for his trivial motifs in advertising as well as in film and television programmes. He reduces these to stereotypes with sexual symbolism in bright colours.
