silver, gilt, of round form, trefoil base, sculpted with dolphins and shells, three column feet with eagle finial, inset gadrooned bowl, the rim bearing the engraved dedication: "LA SOCIÉTÉDE L'HARMONIE A COPENHAGUE A ANGELICA CATALANI LE XIII FÉVRIER MDCCCXXVIII", height: 17,5 cm, weight: 574 g, maker's mark PF = Pierre Frontin, hallmark Copenhagen 1828, (Lu)

A present from the Copenhagen Harmonic Society to the Italian opera singer Angelica Catalani on 13th February 1828. Angelica Catalani (1780-1849) was the first great Italian opera singer of her age and a celebrated success all over Europe.
