Scope: 4°, p. 192-[XVI] + Appendix XXXVI
In the years 1642 – 1688 Matthias Merian (1593 – 1650) and his followers were issuing a large twenty-one volume work entitled Theatrum Europaeum, that comprised also a volume dedicated to Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia. Historical text for each individual location was written by Martin Zeiler (1589-1661). This topography comprises: following a title page - the Map of Bohemia 275 x 357, following page 86 - Comenius Map of Moravia 268 x 340 and following page 116 the Map of Silesia 263 x 338 by Martin Helwig; two-sheet vistas and city plans 200 x 320 following page 12 Brandejs 16 Karlovy Vary, 18 Chlumec nad Cidlinou, 20 (two) Kolín and Chomutov, 22 (two) Čáslav and Cheb, 30 Kladsko, 32 Hradec Králové with four miniatures, 42 (two) Louny and Litoměřice with four miniatures, 50 Pilsen, 56 a folding brochure of Prague 199 x 640 by Václav Hollar, 54 Polná, 56 Plan of Prague, 74 Ostrov, 76 Slaný, 80 Tábor, 90 Brno, 98 Jihlava, 102 Nové Město na Moravě, 104 Olomouc, 112 Znojmo, 126 (two) Vratislav - a plan and Vratislav - a vista, 142 Hlohov, 158 (on with two longitudinal vistas) Lehnice and Nisa, 168 (two) Olše and Plan of Opole, 176 (two) Svídnice - a plan and Svídnice - a vista, 184 (two) Těšín and Drachenberg.

Condition: Rebound with a paper binding in the 19th century. The cover sheet was restored by adding the paper mass. A fold-out vista of Prague is missing from the appendices. The print is in very good condition.
