“Turi Simeti […] developed his aesthetic research on the basis of a few elements: the construction of a projecting architectural apparatus, the entrance of one or more elliptic forms within the composition, the monochrome painting. After a brief youthful period under the influence of the Informale movement, by way of parenthesis common to the artists of his generation including Piero Manzoni, already in 1962 he presented the first ovals (collages in cardboard on canvas and shortly afterwards canvas on canvas) that soon evolved in the elliptic element that has become his principal distinctive sign.
