West Anatolia (Turkey), c. 150 x 120 cm, mid-19th century, large niche or prayer rug with red stepped prayer field decorated with carnation bands and lamps, with one panel above and one below the niche, olive green main border with carnations arranged in square shapes, finely knotted opposite the image direction, use of cotton in the white parts of the pattern, upper end slightly reduced, possible original kilim ends no longer preserved, shirazi replaced, consistent low pile, heavy moth damage to the upper end is secured with a linen band on the back, edge damage.
