1967 Fiat 850 Spider Serie 1

1967 Fiat 850 Spider Serie 1 - CLASSIC CARS and Automobilia

Salzburg delivery, with the consigner since 1987!

On the occasion of the Geneva Auto Show 1965, Fiat expanded its 850 series to include the coupé and Spider. Both shared the sharp engine with 49 HP at 6400 RPM, and the front disk brakes. The charming bodywork, distinguished by the top disappearing under a hatch, was designed and produced by Bertone. In 1968, the second series came on the market, with even more performance but less fashionable detailing.

The present Spider was acquired by the consigner in 1987. In 1994/95, he had the bodywork refurbished and painted. Around the same time, he also purchased spoked wheels, typical of the Spider’s period, and had them powder-coated and equipped with wider tires. The consigner exclusively used the Fiat in fair weather, a fact reflected by the good condition of the roof. But most of all, it is a true pleasure to see how well-protected this 850 was against the “brown plague,” which, in addition to speed limits, was the main reason such speedsters died out. Rust does not appear to be an issue at all, and it is impressive for its clearance and its highly original character. Seats, floor mats, steering wheel or boot lining, there are no accessories or “home-made” bits. This Fiat takes us back to the time of youth when sportiness and fun somehow seemed more light-hearted and stirs up old memories and new desires. Our Fiat 850 certainly survived the wild years in a better state than most of its owners!
