Ushak,
West Anatolia (Turkey), manufactured in about 1880, c. 506 x 370 cm, finely manufactured oversized carpet on green background with wool foundation, since carpets of this group have been increasingly exported to the USA during the past decades, finding an Ushak of such quality as the present one is all the more striking, the carpet was sold at our auction house in poor condition many years ago and subsequently restored to a high standard by the buyer, whose heirs have recently consigned it once more to the Dorotheum, it is now in a restored condition with low surface and partly reworked pile areas.
