China, Ming dynasty. Cast bronze, in the shape of two interwoven dragons. The Ming connoisseur, Wen Zhenheng described what was presumably a similar piece as “a pair of chih dragons, fighting with one another” (Changwu ji, chap. 7, section 9). Length: 17 cm; height: 4.4 cm. (BA)
