France, c. 287 x 316 cm, about 1700, verdure tapestry with wooded landscape, creek and urban architecture on the horizon, impressive is the beautiful, polychrome main border with flower and fruit shrubs, in the foreground two frolicking wolves and a pair of birds in the treetop, silk and wool weaving with heavily oxidised brown, several old repairs and damaged areas as well as open warp slits, the tapestry has been slightly trimmed at the bottom, all outer borders replaced and heavily damaged, backed entirely with burlap fabric.
